St.Crispin's Irregulars - Hobby Day Newsletter

From: Harmon
Sent on: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 10:08 PM

The .PDF version of the newsletter has been posted to the More!>Files section of the Meetup:

If you haven’t taken any time to look around there it contains some pretty good stuff! I post the newsletter there before every Hobby Day, which is two days this month! Friday November 12th after 5pm and Saturday November 13th (all day). Below is a list of some of the events planned for those days. As of right now we have a dozen or so people who are going to show up Friday night but no scheduled events. We are going to have Babylon 5 playing on the big screen (with the sound off) and Christopher might bring some Babylon 5 games, but he might not make it.

Have fun and I hope to see you there!

Harmon Ward

·         HMGS/PSW Flames of War 2.0 - Tim Knapp. Game Start Time 9:00 a.m. until end of the cows come home. Table Size: 5x8 next to the pool table.. Number of Players: 2-4 sponsored by the St. Crispin's Irregulars "Maus Haus" crew - Era: We play all eras, Early, Middle and Late, though we are currently focusing on early war to get our new armies started. We normally have loaner armies or units in our own forces that new players can "command" to get their feet wet. We normally play one on one or two on two early in the day and play a large game in the afternoon/evening (4 on 4). We also often have loaner units for new commanders. Contact Tim Knapp if you need additional details. [address removed]

Game 9 will determine who goes up against the Lizardmen, and then a Battle Royale finale the likes of which have never been seen before! And then everybody wants to do it again. So if you are a minis fantasy wargamer who likes the wargamery bit more than the minis bit, hang around at 5pm when we pick teams for the new season. Newest player will get first pick, all the way to first place player getting the last pick. Then next month the stabbing will happen. Yay stabbing! ·         Le Ballet de L’Acier – Mike Time:7:00 PM Table Size: 5' by 6' Number of players: Three to five. The year is 1625. The place is Paris. This is the age of D'Artagnan and Diego Alatriste, Milady de Winter and Madeleine de Maupin, an age of honor and intrigue, where a stout heart, a strong wrist, and cold steel may bring fortune or death. We're playing the classic swashbuckling role playing game, Flashing Blades. No prior experience with the system is required - anyone interested is welcome! We'll make characters to start. If there's enough interest after the first night, I'd be happy to make this a regular game. Visit my Obsidian Portal wiki, Le Ballet de l'Acier, for more about the game. For questions or to RSVP, contact Mike via the message system on Meetup.

·         Pathfinder Society Scenarios - Robyn (AKA Miniaturepeddler/Dragonlady) Time: 1pm (yeah at lunch time - come and eat and sign in) Table Size (30"x6') Table Time Block: Afternoon 1pm to 6pm. # of Players. 6 players Character Level 1-7. Scenario Season 0, 1 or 2. The Pathfinder Society seeks the ancient ruby ring of the salamander and it falls to a team of Pathfinders to find it. Last seen in the Tri-Towers Yard, a once elite academy for the youth of Absalom, the ruby ring is now lost in the Drownyard, all that remains of Tri-Towers after it was destroyed a decade ago in the great quake. The Pathfinders must risk the strange black ichors and salty brine to find their prize, will they risk their very souls as well? This product is a Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 5th level characters (Tiers: 1–2, 4–5).Register your character on I will using Warhorn signup to schedule games and players so come on over to: St Crispins Irregulars PFS Scheduling

·         Monsterpocalypse – Aaron 10:00 - 1:00 two 6' tables. I currently have enough bits to barely support 4 players. If other Monsterpocalypse players want to bring their forces, great. Monsterpocalypse is giant monster miniatures game. Demolish cities; eat tasty humans; defeat the other monster(s). [address removed]

· Fire and Fury – Tim Knapp (Original/Brigade size) - 15mm Civil War - (we are using the 200 scale version from the book). 9:00 Setup - playing until the cows come home. Table size - 5x9 or 5x8 (The pool table would be nice if open) Number of Players - 6 to 8 (3 to 4 per side). If you have miniatures please bring 1 (perhaps 2 divisions) with you for playing with. We have a fair amount of miniatures that are already built, but it never hurts to have more. The rules are VERY easy to learn and the game plays quickly, so new players are more than welcome to attend. . [address removed]

·         Mechwarrior – Dark Age Christopher Lundgren Start time: 1:30 PM. Table size: 30"x6. Mechwarrior Dark Age it the Clicky version of Battletech and is played on a tabletop with each player taking turns giving his models 'orders' that involve moving and/or attacking opposing units. A measuring tape and three-six sided dice are used while executing these orders. Frequently miniaturized 'terrain', such as buildings, forests or lakes are placed on the game board. The victor is determined after one or more 'victory conditions' have been achieved by a player or when the predetermined time limit for the game has been reached. Note: this is an independent event and has nothing to do with the Current Battletech or Catalyst events. [address removed]

·         4 Hours of Boardgames! Trial Size - Graham – Start time: 5:00pm/after dinner. It is so hard to get big games going at drop-in events like this. If people show up to play board games, they always settle on something short and familiar. No rules time, and nobody wants to commit to a long game with some stranger who you may come to really dislike. So the goal of this Trial Size event is to show off several different 4H games. Maybe play a turn or two; just enough so you can get what it is about. Then if any of them catch on we can arrange to get them on the table some Monday or Saturday shindig. Absolutely no pressure to play if you don't like the game or don't like me. It is just a horse dovers table. Heck, you should stop by just to see these even if you aren't interested now. They are big and shiny looking. Runewars, Through the Ages, Dominant Species, Warrior Knights, Shogun, Stuff like that, 2x30”x6’ tables in a square. [address removed]

·         Boardgames – Aaron Evening –start time 6:00pm Table Size: 30”x6’. Number of Players: 2-7. Agricola, Arkham Horror, Munchkin Quest, Chez Geek, Chez Cthulhu, Kill Doctor Lucky,Bang!

Prove yourself against the enemy; and with determination and elusive dice become a victorious Miniature Gaming Combatant! Multiple scenarios. Up to 4 players. Prizes awarded to both the victor and the vanquished!
