What experience/background do you have in Permaculture?

I've done lots of reading and putting some of that into practice. This year I'm bottom-lining introducing more forest gardening principles and plantings to our community garden in Flatbush. Also introducing native perennials in our apartment building's foundation plantings, helping form a wildlife corridor with the building across the street.

What are your topics of interest in relation to this group?

Urban permaculture, using native plants for soil remediation, rainwater uptake, improving air; where possible, introducing edible fruit/nut trees and shrubs in public areas, possibly thru grafting to ornamentals; best using city shade for people, insects, birds.

What skills do you have to share with this group?

Propagation (seed saving, rooting cuttings, division); no-till gardening; composting; knowledge of the city's edible opportunists (weeds); shade perennial gardening. Some knowledge of plant guilds and multi-year succession planning.

Freegan, wild forager, gardener.
