What we're about

Brooklyn Ukes began nearly 10 years ago at Freddy's in Brooklyn, then moving to Jalopy Theatre and finally to The Douglass until we had to move to our online platform and "Zoomed" together for 11 months! It was wonderful to keep the music flowing together albeit less "together" than we would like.

Now, we are moving back outside, courtesy of the lovely Liz Schnore, to the Gowanus Boathouse during the temperate months until it gets too damn cold to play outdoors at which point we'll likely go back to Zooming it unless things are safe to move indoors and if/when we can find a new venue since the Douglass had to close its doors.

Monthly updates will keep everyone apprised of what the goings-on are of BK Ukes including other playing opportunities, jam sessions in parks, open mics, etc.

Brooklyn Ukes is for everyone who wants to play ukulele, share songs, and get to know other uke enthusiasts! A fun and open atmosphere of good cheer and good tunes!

Welcome.

Michael Kramer Celebration with the Ukuladies and special guests

Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club Boathouse

Aloha and warm greetings to all. Our beloved friend and compatriot, Michael Kramer, will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 24th with special musical guests including Liz Rabson Schnore, the Ukuladies, and friends and colleagues of Michael including members of his band. This is a uke jam that will feature many of Michael's favorite songs from Uke Night! As some of you know, Michael passed suddenly last month and we would like to honor his life in music and song. We hope you will join in raising a glass, singing a song and connecting together! The gathering will be at the Gowanus Boat House in Brooklyn. 3:30 - 5:30. We are asking everyone to bring something eat or drink in the style of a potluck. Some pizza on site will be there too! With love and appreciation! Katie and Liz.
