• WANTED HOSTS / ORGANISERS
(This is not an event - This is an announcement) Hello members and friends, Good day! I am the organiser for our 4 meetup groups in Brussels which together have over 8,000 members. We have not been very active in these groups as old organisers have moved cities or their interests have changed. I would like to reinvigorate the groups and get them back into action. Going forward we would like to arrange some drinks and socialising evenings and also some activity events for our groups. We are thus seeking new organisers and hosts who would volunteer their time and effort to host some meetups. Organising and hosting is an extremely satisfying role which is also challenging at the same time. Organising gives you great insight into human psychology, group dynamics, strategy and event management. It also makes you the social leader of the group and enables you to rapidly expand your network. It is a voluntary part time role and requires only a few hours a week (mainly on weekdays but also some weekends) and it is a great start for someone who has taken a break from work, just moved into the city, someone who needs to network for their main occupation or just for someone who is socially confident and loves meeting people. You can also sign up to host a one-off event and so it is not a long term commitment.. Please get in touch with me if you are interested. My thanks and best regards Dan Organiser Links to our groups in Brussels https://www.meetup.com/International-and-Expat-Singles-in-Brussels/ https://www.meetup.com/Brussels-Expat-Club/ https://www.meetup.com/The-Brussels-AfterWork/ https://www.meetup.com/Brussels-Business-and-Social-networking-Club/

  • Friday Evening Soiree @ De Haus Bar (Free Drink/Hosted/Intros/€10 fee)
An evening with friends is the perfect way to start your weekend - Join us for a lovely Friday Evening Soiree at De Haus Bar... We have arranged a great night of socializing & networking - so come out and make new some new friends... Our venue - Much as the name would suggest, the interior of De Haus is reminiscent of someones' living room - if that someone had eclectic and extremely cool style. Located in the Ixelles neighborhood of Brussels, De Haus labels itself as a gin and tonic bar, but in fact goes much further than that, sporting an interesting menu of local beers, natural wines, cocktails and spirits. A laid back and comfy ambiance makes it perfect for an evening with friends...! TARA (organizer and host in Brussels) will welcome you to the group and also help introduce you to the other members who attend. We expect about 20-30 people from our 4 groups in the city to attend. (Please be aware that this is an evening for making friends and so while most people will be single not all may be single.) Few key points: - We have our area booked for the EXPATS CLUB MEETUP (This is likely to be the standing area as we find that a standing area is best for socializing) - TARA is hosting this event. You will be warmly welcomed at the venue and also introduce you to other attendees. - TARA will collect an event fee of €10 from all members. (This fee helps pay for the costs of our meetup presence, professional organizing, hosting, negotiating, meetup costs and marketing etc. and a welcome drink!) - All guests will get a complimentary alcoholic welcome drink. The Bar has a wide choice of fabulous drinks available for thereafter. - Dress code - Smart casual - You can contact TARA on [masked] or me, Raj, on whatsapp on [masked]) CLICK TO SEE PHOTOS FROM PAST MEETUPS ( http://bit.ly/Oursocials ) =================================================== CLICK FOR PHOTOS FROM RECENT EVENTS ( http://bit.ly/recentevents ) --------------------------------------------------------------- Why do we collect an Event fee when a few other groups do not? 1) We do not take backhanders or commissions from venues or have any hidden kickbacks from them. We are also constantly trying to find new venues which are fresh, exciting, reasonably priced and with great service. Some of the other groups tend to constantly go to the same venue every week and seem to be managed by bar owners rather than fellow expats. 2) An event fee ensures that people are serious, make an effort and get the best out of the social. Many a times we have people show up, have a drink and then depart and we do not want that. We want people to stay, mingle and make connections. 3) An event fee ensures that we get quality people who are willing and able to pay for it. (You also get a free drink which tends to be of €5 to 7 value anyway) It generally ensures that we get like minded people who can identify quality. We find that this reduces the overall number of people but it is of much higher quality. And due to smaller numbers everyone has a much better time. 4) Event fees pay for our meetup presence, professional hosting, organising, negotiating free drinks and other packages, holding space, answering online and telephonic questions etc. You will agree that everything costs money and nothing is free. We are upfront and ask you to pay it, instead of taking kickbacks from the bar etc. 5) These fees do, at times, leave a small surplus for the organisers and motivate us to be creative and continually strive to deliver a great socialising experience to you. We know there are others who charge low fees and others who even do it free and survive on underhand kickbacks from bars and others. We do not do those and believe and strive to deliver a better overall product over the long term. We hope you agree with our approach and thank you for your understanding. ========================================================= How to find DeHaus? ---------------MEMBER VIDEOS------------------------ WE KNOW THAT ATTENDING A SOCIAL EVENT ALONE AND FOR THE FIRST TIME CAN BE SCARY AND NERVE RACKING.
