Pathfinder: Saga of the Linnorm King

A snapping bow, a burning flame,
A grinning wolf, a grunting boar,
A raucous crow, a rootless tree,
A breaking wave, a boiling kettle,
A flying arrow, an ebbing tide,
A coiled adder, the ice of a night,
A bride's bed talk, a broad sword,
A bear's play, a king's son,
A witch' s welcome, the wit of a thrall,
A sick calf, a corpse still fresh,
A brother's killer encountered upon
The highway, a house half-burned,
A horse who has wrenched a leg,
Are never safe: let no man trust them.

You were right Richard, it seems the Mythic Adventures is going to basically be the Epic Level Handbook for Pathfinder. Baba Yaga's stats are based on stuff coming out in that book it says.

Richard, are there any books that you don't have that you are interested in getting? I like having new options, so I'd occasionally pick you up a book so that the party can access it too. And I'll make sure to get you a hard copy instead of the ebooks i prefer

Dude, if I die, I'm coming back as a Paladin of Asmodeus. Seems he's the only lawful evil god allowed to have paladins. Apparently the priests all treat them with kids gloves and give them missions that don't have any evil elements (usually in Cheliax where it's the law). There's just something awesomely funny about being a Lawful Good Paladin for The Archfiend. I guess they walk around with alignment blinders on.

There are rules for that somewhere. One of the books had paladins for each extreme alignment

      And not the Anti-paladin

Should we "not know" about his heart attack?

Sorry, about last weekend. My Water heater decided to spring a leak and I am not sure that I am going be to this week due to that I may going to the Rennaisance Fair for a friends B-day

    August 5, 2013

    • james m.

Don't worry about it man, shit happens. Water heaters are bitches and expensive

      August 6, 2013

    • Shawn G.

Thanks, Yeah it cost about 500 and couple of days without water

Yeah so, since you guys know him I thought I'd let you all know. My father had a heart attack this morning and is in surgery getting stents(stints?) put in. He probably wouldn't want me to say anything, but I figure any good wishes can't hurt

Damn, hope he gets better. That is no good....

I hope he is feeling better.

Yeah, he's going to be fine. In fact, this was probably a good thing catching this early before it got bad, he's probably going to feel better than he has in a while. Honestly, the old man is a tank (three years ago in Buenos Aires I had to talk him down from starting a fight with 4 security guards, "What are these little men going to do" was I think his quote at the time. because they overcharged us on a room by accident), but it was pretty sudden since he's recently had a checkup and was supposed to be fine. And with everything else going on, this is the last thing my family needed

Hey Richard, how do you want me to approach the animal companion for Grim? Is it automatic? Feats and skills?

    July 29, 2013

    • Richard A.

Alright, I guess you can have a wolf. Write him up, and we'll add him in next session.

How about I get the rock companion, but it gives me +4 to str and dex and telepathy. That sound good?

Definetly sending my best wishes along. Let me know if there's any way the party can help boost his chances in making his upcoming Fortitude saves. :)

Another one: A team of good heroes track goblins to their cave, kill them, and find a bunch of baby goblins. Which action should the good characters take?
A.) Let them live, maybe even help raise them, because evil is a learned behavior.
B.) Let them alone, let nature take it's course for them.
C.) Kill the baby goblins because they are inherently evil creatures, and even if one in a million can be redeemed it's not worth the risk.

The correct answer is: All of the above. Champions of Purity states that all the above choices can be defended by good characters, although A seems the most saintly.

Lol, the Pathfinder Society rules are kind of wonky. Apparently, torturing someone for information is always considered an evil act. However, the next line says that it's not evil to 'rough someone up' for information, without any kind of explanation.

My favorite part though is this: Killing a helpless prisoner who surrendered to you so that you can cast speak with dead on him and get answers quickly is NOT inherently evil.

Hurting but leaving alive = Evil
Hurting AND killing = Morally acceptable

Btw, for those who would like to read the rules for kingdom making, or any of the other Ultimate Campaign options like retraining, Paizo has a site up for all their Open Gaming License stuff. The direct link to the Kingdom build stuff is: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCampaign/kingdomsAndWar.html

Holy crap, I'm glad we sped up that village building part. I'm looking at the rules and it's a shitload of stuff. I don't mind building a town and raising influence/reputation, but I at least want to glance over the 30 pages of rules before we dive in, there's a lot of stuff to learn
And Richard, can you let us know how many BP's we have for the village? I'm going to make some hypothetical builds and leader assignments and see what I can come up with

You've got options with the keep. The first is to just use it as a base of operations. In this option, you'll be responsible for paying wages, providing food, and general upkeep. The second is to use the keep to house a business, such as a mercenary company or (using your expansive underground rooms) perhaps a vault for rare treasures that others pay you to protect. In the business option, upkeep is built into the system. The third option is attempting to found a kingdom. The initial phases of this will be expensive, but the payoff (perhaps years later) could be huge. It's something the group as a whole will have to decide on.

My personal vote is to go for building a kingdom. We only have to spend 7 days per month there, non-consecutive, and the rules allow us to assume it's automatically done (as in just make the necessary rolls) or role-play our way through it. The Linnorm lands are full of small kingdoms and we'd just become a vassal state to the Blood-Eagle (so he'd probably sponsor us). However, turning the keep into a rare treasure storage area has a lot of awesome potential for role-play options and sneaky thievery

Flanking Foil seemed useful to me too, since I lost uncanny dodge. Anyone I hit loses Flanking Bonuses against me until the my next turn. If I hit a rogue, no sneak attack or bonus to hit.

Lol, I presume Sven is helping us out with some BP's to get us started. It says a town with just an Inn and 1 House costs 13 BP (50,000gold pieces), unless you give us a better exchange rate. And hell, we already have an entire keep draining our resources :) If Gorrock is going to become the next High King of the Linnorm Kings we have to do this right.

Anyone have any suggestions for a feat to pick up for Gorrock. I have some ideas, but you've all seen where I'm going with him, anyone think of any good ones?

Joe, I'm probably going to want you to make that helm for me, I think it'll end up being 1250 gp since you have the feat. I'm pretty sure I have enough to have it made now
