About the Artist:
On June 26, 2008 I was involved in a near fatal head on collision with a commercial truck near Lyon’s Bay, just outside Vancouver Canada. The accident caused me to be paralyzed from my shoulders down.
Prior to my accident I taught high school classes for twenty two years. Ten of those years I taught Computer Graphics and Animation. While I was now unable to continue teaching I focused on adjusting to a very different life and set of circumstances. I wrote and self-published my story in a book titled "Only the Rats are Walking." I used a mouth stick to type on an iPad. With a need to continue creating, I began making large bright colorful collages pasted onto canvas. I choose the colors, shapes, sizes and placement of the paper and have my husband do the pasting.
I’m originally from Maryland, moved to California at the age of twenty-four. Completed my Bachelors Degree in Psychology at California State University, Fullerton. I continued my education earning a Masters Degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling and a California Teaching Credential. My art experience came from night and summer extension classes.
