Buffalo Dachshund Club Message Board › Doxies in Need of a Loving Home
Hello current Buffalo Dachshund Club members and welcome new members, we are so glad to have you!!
Hope that your winter has been going as easy as mine has. Little doxie paws don't like the snow very much, so my wieners have been enjoying lots of time outside, unusual for this time of year!
Meetup Reminders: I hope to see you at one of our upcoming meetups!!! We have 2 this month, one an introduction to the Dachshund Club of Greater Buffalo and the second a fundraiser for Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue. Details can be found about these events on our Facebook page and on our meetup.com group page. Hope to see you there!! If you have not paid your dues yet, I will be collecting dues at the 2/11 meet up. Checks are preferred please, but you can also pay by PayPal!!
The Luck of the Irish, Go Green! Also- don't forget to RSVP for the Buffalo St. Patrick's Day parade coming up on March 18th!! This is one of our favorite events of the year, and we will hopefully have our famous "wiener wagon" and even a convertible this year, featuring member Ike and his owner Bill! We are usually the hit of the parade, so get your friends and family to join in, get dressed in green and join in on the fun!
Doxies in Need of a Home: I was emailed by a member today concerning her 2 doxies. She is a current owner of 2 sweet mini's that unfortunatly she must rehome due to her husbands' allergy to them.
"We have had these 2 for now over 4 years and hoping that we could keep them but my husband has continued to have more and more reactions to them... it has now come down to him unable to breath and having to use his inhaller more and more everyday. With this growing concern I am now left to having to give them up or facing something even worst with my husband. I have a 5 yr red short hair female (Roxie) and a 4 yr black and tan male(Roscoe) ... these two have been together forever and I really dont want to see them seperated but if that means they will get good homes I am OK with that. They are both potty trained and we do have a electric fence that they do very well with. They do bark but that is course for the breed. I do have children that are 13, 9 and 1 yr old, and the dogs are great with them..also we have 2 cats (that we also need to find homes) that the dogs just adore. They all sleep together and play together."
Here are some additional details about the dogs from the owner:
5 1/2 yrs
No health issues
Rabies shot UTD (expires in April)
She is good with other dogs and people but will get attached to one person and sometimes growl if she senses a threat to them or her. She is very shy to new people and it takes her longer to get use to them but Will warm up when she is ready... Although do not recommend having food in the same room as her because she will do what ever it takes to get it.She loves to sleep with me under the covers and is the biggest bum there is. Although she enjoys running the house like a race track at full speed she is far from fat.
Blank/tan short hair
Bees and Spiders..(although Children's Benadryl should take care of it)
12-15 Lbs (he is a small guy)
Rabies at 1 yrs.. we have not updated his shot due to allergies to it and the cost of preventive shots to get it.
Roscoe is very protective of the house and family although he will bark and approach other dogs..he never has bitten any...He is another one that loves to run the house like a racetrack with Roxie and the cats..and loves to sleep under the covers with you or on the couch with a blanket on top.
Photos of the dogs have been posted to Facebook. If you are interested in helping these guys find a loving forever home, please contact the owner directly, Bernie Wrazen at email@example.com
It would be wonderful to have these dogs go to a fellow doxie lovers home, someone who is educated on the breed, caring, responsible and knowledgeable of doxie behavior and health issues. Otherwise, the owner will be contacting a reputable local rescue organization for help in finding the right home for these dogs, and they do a great job helping needy dogs find the right owners.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support and appreciation, looking forward to a great 2012 with all of our members. See you soon!
