August Announcements

Hello, Gamers!

Summer is winding down, and the temperatures are cooling down. But for those of us who have been here for awhile, that just means that it's time for the Meetup to get fired up. Lets see what our members have cooking for us this month.

Looking for Gamers Looking for Games

Keep it Casual on Friday, August 19th. The Casual Game night is happening at Panera Bread on Sheridan, and its a great way to get your board gaming fix. Don't miss out on your last chance to join the crew this month.

Encounters has just began a new season, and if you want to solve the mystery around the Lost Crown of Neverwinter, you can join us every Wednesday night at Jester's Cap.

A new Meetup dedicated to a single D&D campaign has opened up and is looking for players. If you want to take a look, check them out at

Local Star Wars afficianado, Garrett, is stretching his horizons a bit and starting up a group to play a Middle-Earth style D&D game on Thursday nights. Details at

2nd Annual GameFest

It looks like Pirates have a significant lead this year, at the 2nd Annual GameFest. Bring your Booty out on September 24th and see if you're the scurviest dog to sail the seven seas. All attendees will get a custom d6, and more prizes will be awarded at the event. You can find all the details at

Gen Con Wrap Up

Gen Con has completed its yearly awesome quota, and then smashed it by expanding.  The convention center was bigger than ever this year, and so was the attendance.  Records were shattered by 20% or more.  The Buffalo Gamers Society was in attendance as well. They don't lie when the organizers call this event the Best Four Days in Gaming. I believe I spent over 44 hours at the game table during the week, and that was only when I was DMing. I can't count the number of hours I spent actually playing.

If you are interested in joining us for all that Gen Con has to offer next year, post to the Gen Con 2012 thread:

Newsworthy Notes

It appears that the local Tonawanda Newspaper has taken an interest in our group and will be doing an interview with some of our organizers. We'll send out more information as we get it. For now, keep an eye out for the upcoming article.

That's all for this month. Look out for September, as we expect to see a rush of new activity.

Until then, Game on!
