Korean BBQ at Han Il Kwan

Wrap a few pieces of meat (cooked over live coals in the table), a little sauce, a bit of rice, and your accompaniments of choice, into a leaf of lettuce. Wrap it, and pop that little bite of heaven into your mouth! Mmmmmm. We'll be in the back room. Seating's very limited. Dinners are in the $15-20 range.

Note that the location for this event changed, slightly. It's about a half-mile from the original location. When I tried to increase our group-size at old location, they told me that they are now closed on Wednesdays. When I asked what happened to our original reservations, the best that I could get out of them was "Closed Wednesday" and "It's new." LOL. But no worries, the new place is great too, and they also cook on live coals.

I have reservations for 14 now.

David: For me it's the weather. There's a forecast of severe thunderstorms possibly going into the dinner hour, I won't head out if the weather's that bad and I'm trying to observe the no show policy.'

I think that the weather was what I missed in the news. :) And you absolutely did the right thing in updating your RSVP!

We went from 15 to 9 in the last 24 hours. What happened? Did I miss something on the news?! ;)

Are the meals served family style?

I don't know about this place, but when I went to Hae Woon Dae (or something like that), I think there was a restriction on the different types of meat a single table could order - cook time maybe? not positive I remember that correctly though.

@Suzanne: This place mixed chicken, beef, etc. when we were there, last month. But they cooked, one after the other, which implies a family style per-grill-requirement for us. My thoughts: We put 4-5 people on each grill, and they dine and split the bill, family style. Another idea would be to put together a prix fixe multi-course menu. Thoughts?

Wow, how rude of them. Good thing we didn't all just show up! Would have been polite of them to notify you.

Less likely rude, and more likely language or right hand not talking to left hand. I double-check reservations, a few days before all of the events, so we'd have caught it. It's possible that they'd have called me, and it's also possible that they didn't understand me on the phone, when I talked to them the first time. That's why I prefer to make reservations in person (new requirement, I think). Either way, we'll still get great Korean BBQ. Can't wait! Mmmmmm. :)

White windmill. Probably one of the best Korean bakeries and tea sellers around. Great choice for after dinner

I probably can't get there until 8pm. Should I canal my rsvp? I would hate to take a seat from someone who can get there on time. I still plan on coming. I just might not be able to sit with the group I guess.

      Cancel not canal

Yes. Catch the next Korean BBQ event and enjoy the whole experience. We'll be well into the meal by 8PM. Maybe you can meet up with us at the White Windmill afterwards? Let me know if you're interested, and I can text you, when we're close to done. Otherwise, we'll see you soon!

Dave: Any posibility for another table to seat an additional 4 that are on the wait list?

    January 21, 2013

    • David

I'm going to go up there, tomorrow PM, and double-check with them. Was already on my to-do list. :)

      January 21, 2013

  • David

If anyone's up for it, we may pop over to White Windmill for after-dinner coffee and/or desserts!
