Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn about my efforts to help others.
Years ago, I was asked to provide my thoughts to a client on buying a business. It was something she had never done before. Watching her learn about it, and her struggles, left me with an interest in helping solo-business owners get through the process better and more quickly.
Fast forward a few decades...I'd founded multiple companies by then (one of which turns around struggling businesses). It was time to "scratch the itch" I got decades ago, by founding a nonprofit which teaches free classes to aspiring small business owners.
ALMA Group Care, Inc. (dba The Business E/R) is the nonprofit I founded in 2019, to run and administer these workshops. There are no charges to those attending. My companies and others cover all the costs of materials, speakers, space etc. There are no employees, only volunteers.
Our theme throughout the classes is a translation from the Greek philosopher Heraclitus: "No one steps into the same river twice. If they do, it is not the same river and they is not the same person." To him, change was constant (as was the type and source of change).
Our Meetup, "The Business E/R" is a series of workshops which takes ninety days to complete. Half the time is dedicated to finding and handling clients. The other half provides ideas and methods to better control your business operations and keep more of the money you earn. The Meetup for the classes is:
All attendees need to register, so we can know how many sets of materials to bring to the meeting.
The classes meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month (a total of ten meetings) at 1 pm until 3 pm. They may include a guest speaker. There is light homework between workshops. We estimate it will take 30-45 minutes for the homework to be read. These are often discussions of an idea, from different people perspectives.
The month that has a fifth Tuesday is be set aside for a guest speaker, schedule permitting. Their subject matter will be determined by where the date falls in the cycle of Tuesdays.
Each workshop is small and private - in fact we have members sign a privacy agreement so all feel safe in sharing details about their businesses. We also encourage members to continue sharing with each other after the workshops have concluded.
If you have any questions (about how to join, the materials etc.) please reach out to me at Info@Biz-ER.org (Info@Biz-ER.org)by email. You can also learn more at our website (https://biz-er.org) where we have more information.
