Networking Events This Week

I did not find anything going on today, Monday.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, there will be Bio2Device at the Sunnyvale Council Chambers, 8:30am,  topic is “Bits, Bytes and Biology: A new paradigm for designing therapies.” With speaker Pradeep Fernades - President and co-founder - Cellworks Group
Later at 1pm there is ToastMatchers at Connect.
Tuesday evening I have car club meeting, hasn’t been a cornucopia of contacts yet, but it's fun.  LMK if interested.
Wednesday night at Spenger’s in Berkeley there is the American Welding Society meeting, topic is Recent Major Milestones for AWS, speaker is Dean R. Wilson, AWS Vice-President.  Long drive and topic looks so-so, but it’s billed as a “joint meeting with Santa Clara and Fresno Sections”.  I am not aware of an active Santa Clara section…be interesting to see if anyone from around here turns out, beyond myself.  Would really, really prefer to carpool for this one.
( The eco green group meeting will be in the evening, not 8am, see further below )
Thurday at 10:00am in Saratoga there is Csix, topic is “ Redefining Prime: 5 Keys to Making 50 Better Than the New 30 on the Job” with speaker Nina Price.
Like those short URL's...
Eco Green Group will meet Thursday evening, the presentation is
“Clean Efficient Energy Now with Fuel Cells”, speaker is Robin Shaffer of ClearEdge Power
6:30 pm - 7:00 pm Networking and Check-in
7:00 pm - 8:15 pm Presentation
Key Point Credit Union
2805 Bowers Avenue
Santa Clara, CA
They say: "Advance Registration Required"
They want $6.50, not clear if any snacks or beverages are provided :-(
Friday there is this unique event, and four tours going on ( at the same time?) from SME:
“Celebrate the first National Day of Manufacturing
Join us for a free member's lunch and networking at Pedro’s in Santa Clara
3935 Freedom Circle, Santa Clara, CA
Friday, October 5, 2012 @ 11:45 am
Bring your spouses, colleagues, friends, or all who may be interested in where you volunteer your time. Free for members and $5 for non-members.
to [address removed] by Thursday”
You can join in the Manufacturing Day festivities as you like; follow this link to the website for details about this monumental day.
Other activities include
There are four factory open house events scheduled for that day [in N. California] at  the following locations - follow the links for details.
(Long ago I met the owner of Transfer Flow, he used to work for “Travel Tanks”, the company that built the extra gas tanks on my truck, would like to tell him how one tank fell out and dragged on the ground … after 40 years though there’s probably no warranty left.  If anyone is up for the drive/driving, I’d consider it)
Saturday there is an open house at Intuitive Surgical.  Wish now I’d started losing weight and got a hair transplant after their earlier Open House, but even so I’m sure it’s still worth a look, sign up here:
An unfortunate conflict with Career Actions Ministry, 9:30 to 11 in Mountain View, topic not yet announced,
Last week I had some other things going on Tuesday and Thursday, though I still was able to attend the MIT Club event at PARC Thursday evening, which was very good and I made some new contacts.
Also very worthwhile was the “ASQ Biomedical Discussion Group” last Wednesday night, useful presentation and again made some new contacts.  Many however signed up but did not show up … maybe that’s why some who I thought were “regulars” weren’t there.
Last Monday the turnout for “Drop In Career Strategery” was pretty light, so the attention per individual was high.  This is open to ProMatch, Post ProMatch and those interested in ProMatch.
