What we're about

Is this a book club for butlers who live in bedsits? (no. maybe?)

From the manor house to the kitchen sink, from The Way of All Flesh to White Teeth--it's a book club for people who want to talk about 20th century BritLit over coffee/tea/other beverages (or food).

For now, meetings will be held once a month on weekend mornings, with the occasional book-related excursion.

Leave it to Psmith by P.G. Wodehouse

Online event

For August, a trip to Blandings Castle:

"At the open window of the great library of Blandings Castle, drooping like a wet sock, as was his habit when he had nothing to prop his spine against, the Earl of Emsworth, that amiable and boneheaded peer, stood gazing out over his domain."

The second novel in the Blandings Castle series and the last novel in the Psmith series, is an entertaining farce set in the most idyllic country house Wodehouse ever invented. It's from 1923, which means it's available on Project Gutenberg.

Still on zoom, but we can discuss a possible August in-person meetup during this meeting.

September: Excellent Women, Barbara Pym
