Learn how blockchain technology can efficientize the voting process with the CEO and Founder of Voatz, Nimit Sawhney. Voatz, based in Boston, enables citizens to vote safely in all kinds of elections or voting events via a smartphone.
In addition to a discussion of Voatz, blockchain and security, Mr. Sawhney will address blockchain's potential impact on elections and global politics. We'll also discuss future government applications. Mr. Sawhney will give an overview of his background and the inspiration to begin a startup, particularly at a time when blockchain applications outside FinTech were rarely known (ironically, we met him at a FinTech competition Voatz had entered). We'll also include Q&A from the audience and time to mingle.
About The Speaker: Nimit has nearly 15 years experience in mobile software development, information security and embedded systems including 5 yrs as the business/technical head of a R&D unit. Nimit holds a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Business Management from the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and is currently the Co-Founder/CEO of Voatz, a small startup based in the Boston area which is piloting a high security mobile-first election voting and citizen engagement platform which utilizes the power of the Blockchain to enforce irrefutability. Nimit is always exploring new ways of using cutting-edge technologies in non-traditional arenas and is an enthusiastic participant in several civic tech projects.
About Voatz: Voatz enables citizens to vote safely in all kinds of elections or voting events via a smartphone. Past attempts at internet based election voting have failed or not gone mainstream due to fundamental concerns around security, auditability and voter anonymity. With Voatz, using advanced biometric security and the Blockchain for irrefutability, we are able to tackle all these challenges and significantly streamline the process of voting and identity verification.
Voatz has won several awards and has recently started to execute on its first set of commercial clients.
