CRAIG CHILDS to speak in Moab- let's carpool/ caravan over

  • to
  • Star Hall

159 E. Center St., Moab, UT (map)

  • Meet at 4 PM at Starvin Arvins in Fruita to carpool or caravan
  • Craig Childs will be speaking in Moab at 7 PM the evening of Friday, December 9th. Craig has a new book out,
Apocalyptic Planet: Field Guide to the Everending Earth. That is most likely the topic of the evening.

I suggest we carpool up and go hear the talk in Star Hallin downtown Moab.

Since it starts at 7 PM let's leave Fruita in time to have dinner in Moab. Within walking distance from the lecture there are numerous good places to eat. Taking suggestions on this eating idea?

Keith and I would like to go but cannot drive. What is the chance of getting a ride with the carpooling? --Paula Struckman

I would like a ride too but don't wish to stay overnight in Moab. Anyone going and coming back the same day?

  • Jean L.

I'm going earlier in the day and probably going to spend the night....

This was sent to me by one of our members: I notice that the Grand County site for the Dec 9 event () says 'Greg Childs' rather than 'Craig Childs'. Not to be completely OCD, but I'd hate to see a bunch of people show up expecting Craig and being disappointed when an NFL wide receiver shows up. Of course, it also says 'all day' for the time, so my level of confidence as to the site's accuracy is fairly low. :-)

. . . to split hairs, Greg lives in Castle Valley.

This is the latest information on what Craig will be doing Friday night. Author Craig Childs gives an evening story-telling: dark and provocative tales with a multimedia twist, musicians, images, and spoken word. Family friendly.

It is CRAIG CHILDS and ticket are $15, in advance or at the door. This information was provided to me by Connie Massingale, a very good friend of Craig's and a CAS-GJ member.

Connie told me Craig will not be talking about the new book. He will be telling other stories. As much as it would be great to hear about the new book, I suspect from having heard him speak one time before, this will be good. I originally wanted to stay over in Moab to hike on Saturday but my wife will be out of town and at $20 for a dog sitter, that would bring the total to $40... cannot do that. So, I plan to go over and back on Friday. Anyone else want to share plans? Dinner in Moab before the talk?
