Children's Book Writers of Los Angeles (CBW-LA) Pages

Whether you dream of becoming a published author, or you simply want to jump start your writing career, the Children's Book Writers of Los Angeles will help you get going with inspiration, education and support.

Established in 2010, we achieved nonprofit status in 2012. We welcome you to join our meetup page for access to our CBW-LA calendar of events and to attend workshops. However, if you are serious about your children's writing, or love a way to save money, we encourage you to join the CBW-LA organization as a member at Members receive additional support through online members-only forums, our quarterly newsletter, discounts on workshops, free critiques and some adorable swag to write with pride.

Although our main focus is on writing for children, we welcome writers of all kinds, as well as those who love to read children's books (Middle Grade, Young Adult, Picture Books, etc).

In October 2013, we released our first book published by our imprint, CBW-LA Publications, entitled Story Sprouts Writing Day Workshop and Anthology 2013. Brimming with stories from talented new voices, as well as exercises and writing tips, this is a fabulous resource and guide for all aspiring writers and published authors.

Our workshops provide tips and lessons on the craft and business of writing. You'll learn how to create characters so real they practically jump off the page, weave story lines to make an interesting plot, outline, revise and edit your manuscript, write and submit query letters to agents and editors and how the publishing industry works.

You can get helpful feedback in our critique sessions. We host creative writing sessions to help spark the next great idea, or simply to practice writing so you can find your voice and style.

And there's always room for questions, from asking about the best writing software to understanding how to maximize social media.

What are you waiting for? Take that next step in your writing career now!
