This is a high altitude ride that includes narrow, twisty and very scenic roads and qualifies for a HAM program rocker. The Mount Evans Road is the highest paved road in North America, topping out at 14,126 feet (the summit of Mt Evans is 14,265 feet). Meet in Morrison at 9:00 for pre-ride briefing, with KSU at 9:15. We will head west to Idaho Springs on I-70 and then turn south on CO 103 to Echo Lake and the Mt Evans Road. There is a $3 per person entrance fee required for motorcyclists on the Mt Evans Road. After ascending and descending the road we will stop at the Echo Lake Lodge for lunch.
After lunch we will continue south and east on CO 103 to Bergen Park and south on CO 74 through Evergreen to Morrison to end the route.
Be prepared for cooler temperatures on Mt Evans. Our plan is to hit the summit and return to lower elevation before possible afternoon showers move into the area.
