Point Sal Morn Hike (Intermediate - Advanced)

  • to
  • Needs a location

  • We are going to meet at Point Sal!  You can do the first part of 600' ascent, or go all the way to the beach with us for a 10 mile round trip and 1200' return ascent.

This is a very scenic hike with awesome views of the ocean and surrounding beaches and landscapes. Since most of the hike is on the road hiking shoes or running shoes are appropriate. There is little shade on this trail so bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Bring a snack to share at the beach because you will want to stay a little while and enjoy the view!

Also its good to mention that the weather can be unpredictable on this hike, fog can roll in and it will get chilly all of a sudden, pack an extra layer, just in case.

    Please stay on the trail.

Trail length: Five to Ten miles round trip, your choice!

Type: Out and back on an old road

Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous depending on your condition, 600' ascent outbound, 1200' ascent on the return.

Time: This is a 10+miles hike so it is a day long hike. Depending on how many breaks we take, it could take around 5-6 hours. Dogs are welcome.

    Dogs Are Allowed!

Now that Santa Barbara Parks Department has re-surfaced the road and cut down the tall fennel lining the trail, it's time to head out to Point Sal. This is a very scenic hike with awesome views of the ocean and surrounding beaches and landscapes. Since most of the hike is on a road, hiking shoes or running shoes are appropriate. There is little shade on this trail so bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Bring a snack to share at the beach because you will want to stay a little while and enjoy the view!
