When I first joined CCI it had a big impact on how I viewed myself, and how I held back from relating authentically with the world. What I got most when I joined this network was a sense of freedom to be myself - I felt I had permission to explore inside myself without being disapproved of if I found something unpleasant. I eventually learned to give expression to the joy inside me, as well as explore the more difficult and sometimes hidden sides: anger, shame, grief. I learned that it’s OK to cry, to sing, to dance, to yawn, to celebrate, to be quiet, to NOT know.

The aim in CCI is to help you raise self-confidence, self-esteem and your ability to grasp life fully, helping you live autonomously, creatively and in touch with your emotions. CCI challenges the view that some feelings are taboo and that you should not have them. It can help you come to terms with your past and your present, so that difficult feelings have less of a grip on you.

A wider network

*********************
CCI has already been going for over 35 years and offers events (residential and non-residential), groups and pairwork opportunities in many different countries.  CCI stand for Co-Counselling International - it's a network of people who use co-counselling to

    live more creatively

    build productive relationships

work on issues that hold them back

    learn more about themselves

Once you have done the course, it's free to be a member of CCI.
NB. The course is not free: it usually costs around £250 - £295.

The Course: CCI Core Training

*********************
To take full advantage of CCI you have to do this course first.

Here's why you have to do the basic course to have full access to the network...

When co-counsellors meet for groups or one-to-one sessions they share the same knowledge of method, techniques and tools, all learned on the course. They may each have their own way of working, but they know what to expect and what not to expect from the other people. This is vital for safety, because we are dealing with our vulnerabilities and want to feel safe with and trusting of our colleagues.

Once you have done the basic CCI Core Training course, you are a member of CCI and can call yourself a co-counsellor. You then have access to the full international network of residential and non-residential events and groups in CCI, and you may meet up with other co-counsellors whenever you like and have sessions in pairs or small groups.

You have to pay to do the course because of all the time, energy and
professionalism I put into it: see the prices at the website.  It usually costs about £250 - £295, for 5 days, over a few weekends.

About the basic training course

*********************

This course gives you all the skills to use co-counselling however you choose. The five days form an integrated and therapeutic experience in its own right: even if you decide not to do any co-counselling after the course, the course will give you a space to experience and confront yourself within a therapeutic and supportive group setting. It is professionally taught by experienced and often highly qualified co-counselling trainers. Co-counselling draws from Gestalt, process oriented psychology (POP), psychodynamic, psychodrama and humanistic approaches.

The course has traditionally been called 'The Fundamentals of Co-Counselling', and can be referred to as CCI Core Training, Co-Counselling Basic Skills Course', or 'Co-Counselling Foundation Course' or 'Basic Training Course'.
