How did you hear about us?

Found on internet

Like our parent organization, our goal is, "to foster a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values." Are you in agreement with this goal? If you are not, please explain why you want to join.

As a natural scientist I am convinced that secular inquiries about our universe offer essential antidotes to religious stances that confuse myth for reality....and often with great harm.

What would you like to gain from your membership in our group?

To share in an open forum with others interested in seeking rationally based knowledge about the universe and our human existence. Issues in science and the philosophy of science interests me greatly.

Introduction

I am a retired university professor with a specialization in the behavioral and brain sciences. I enjoy reading a wide range of texts, including those that attempt to deal with the philosophical issues that confront us in human life.

What John F. is saying about this Meetup Group

My first time, and I loved it! The folks I had a chance to chat with were special. Sorry I did not get to talk with everyone there----but next time. I mentioned to a couple of folks I would love to stay in touch inside and outside of group events. Here is my email: john.fentress@gmail.com. (And no, I still do not understand quantum physics - alas!) Hope to meet more folks next week. A great way to spend part of the day. Thanks.
