Cleveland Branch Meeting: Darwin Day

Are you going?

The February Cleveland Branch meeting, at 7 pm on the 12th, at the Brecksville Branch Cuyahoga County Public Library, will feature our annual Darwin Day celebration of the life of the controversial, and much-maligned 19th Century scientist, Charles Darwin. Darwin once stated, "I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created parasitic wasps with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of Caterpillars".

His quote serves as a not-so-subtle reminder that while nature can be absolutely beautiful, it can be horrifying as well! With his theory of evolution by natural selection, Darwin changed the way humanity looks at the world - for both those who accept the science behind his theory, and those who don't.

We will be hosting a special guest speaker - To Be Determined - keep an eye out for emails with further details. In addition, Darwin Day cake will be served, along with other light refreshments. We hope to see you there!
