Call for Speakers for SFD2011

(Please see for the original announcement.)

The Software Freedom Day Cleveland 2011 Conference is looking for volunteer speakers. SFD2011 is a Free Software conference intended to promote the benefits of Free Software to businesses in the Greater Cleveland area. We’re looking for persons, professionals, business owners and others who are already familiar with the Free Software landscape. The topics will be wide ranging but with an eye towards the benefits to businesses.

An ideal candidate is someone who is already using Free Software in their day to day life, supporting Free Software, or in some other way involved with Free Software and has a strong degree of knowledge regarding the topic they wish to present. The presentations will be limited to 45 minutes including setup and introduction. Questions will be held for the panel discussions each speaker will participate in immediately after their talk. So we’re also interested in persons who are able to be well prepared in advance, and able to stick to a STRICT and fast paced schedule.

Because these sessions are focusing on being informative rather than hands on we ask that all speakers have their slides prepared for review 2 weeks before the event. In particular we ask that live demonstrations of software be reserved for the panel sessions rather than during your presentation directly.

We ask that each prospective speaker provide us with some basic information about themselves so that we can prepare materials about them including in our Conference Program, on the website, for introductions and more. We’ll also need icons for the project they will be discussing, and an avatar and photo of all speakers. We can help with any of these.

So we send out this general invitation open to all who have Free Software experience and would like to promote Free Software to businesses. Are you one of them? Would you like to be a speaker at The Software Freedom Day Cleveland 2011 Conference? Then please visit our website at, fill out the form completely we’ll get back to you promptly. We ask those that have already been invited also to fill out the form so that your details can be saved into our database.

Many thanks in advance to all that are helping make this the best SFD2011 in the nation! We look forward to seeing all of you there.
