What we're about

Welcome! Thanks for your interest in the Classical Musicians of Metro DC (CM-MDC) Meetup Group, sponsored by the DC Concert Orchestra Society (DCCOS). DCCOS has 600 members and sponsors three program tracks for DC area musicians. If you are just interested in casual chamber music gatherings, read on. If you are interested in more serious chamber music and orchestra performance opportunities, skip down to the solid line.

Classical Musicians of Metro DC is your home for relaxed, non-competitive performance – mostly private – of chamber music for fun and enjoyment. Musicians only (no music appreciaters please) at all levels, except beginner, are welcome.

While good music is the goal, the emphasis here is on fun and enjoyment! Many who were reticent to attend, or thought they might just "sit and listen" found themselves playing at their first meeting. Nerves and feeling intimidated can be left at the doorstep. We're a collegial, congenial, non-competitive group; criticism and attitude are not welcome; we appreciate everyone's best effort.

Features and services of this FREE Meetup are

• Membership in a community of hundreds of non-professional classical musicians throughout the Metropolitan DC area, who enjoy performing chamber music casually – we’re 12 years young and hundreds of members strong!

• Post your own open meetup events to locate fellow musicians and hold informal gatherings for in-home readings and rehearsals (see the Member Guide on how to do this, link below)

• Post notices of your recitals and concerts to attract audience (see the Member Guide, link below)

• Meetup platform services also include

-- Messaging services by which you can communicate with members of this community to form private chamber music ensembles.

-- A message board to ask questions or engage in on-going bulletin board type discussions.
