In the distant realm of Shivovere, a constant dusk hangs over the land and the Radiant Gods are slowly dying off. The mortal races hide within their fortified settlements, the flickering light of gas lamps shielding them from the bloodthirsty beasts that wait within the shadows outside. There is no longer a unified army and the guards would more often protect themselves than their fellow man. Survival is all anyone hopes for anymore.

Venturing out into the wilds is has long been considered a mad necessity, the lamplight of the roads an uncertain protector from the boundless threats of the land. Even the most mundane of tasks are considered a risk when performed outside a settlement's walls. Farmers must fight to protect their livestock. Fishermen fear the seas they sail. Traveling merchants constantly search the dark for signs of attack
-- BEWARE THE DEPTHS --
Ages ago, when the light could still pierce the clouds, the races of the depths fled their shadowy homelands to reach the surface. Their sensitive skin boiling in the sunlight, refugees spoke of terrible monstrosities shrouded in twisted darkness and the decimation of lineages long thought untouchable. They had come seeking aid. Little did they know that this land too would succumb to the gloom.
Characters will be starting in the small town of Hearth on the day that a medium-sized caravan of refugees arrives from the northern village of Tenby.
