Advanced Beginners Ride: Reseda to Westridge

Join us for an advanced beginner and intermediate ride along Westridge Trail, overlooking Santa Monica...

Please not that this is listed as 'advanced beginner' based on the endurance rating, not the technicality. Most of the ride is on smooth fireroad. And I will be leading it like a beginners ride, so lots of regrouping.

The parking lot at Reseda is very large. We will meet at the southern end, by the turnaround, at the start of the dirt road.

From the South end of Reseda we will ride up to Dirt Mulholland (we'll ride on the singletrack trail parallel to the steep fireroad on Reseda) and continue on with a moderate climb (about 700 ft of climbing) over to the Nike tower. After taking a break in the shade, we will head down the Westridge fireroad and then hop onto the ridge singletrack to climb up to the high point of the ridge for some great views. From there we'll head down the ridge a little bit more, hop back on the fireroad, and find our possible turnaround point, with a view into Sullivan canyon. From here we can turn back, or continue down the fireroad, depending on the group. The we'll head back up the fireroad to the Nike tower, and take dirt Mulholland back to the Reseda parking lot.

Helmets are mandatory and please bring a two-way radio if you
have one, set at 5/25, it helps keep the group together. No rider gets left

Endurance Rating = E2.5, Technical Rating = T2, 11 Miles and 1500 Feet of Climbing , About 2.5 Hours.

Directions: Take the 101 Fwy to the Reseda Blvd exit in Tarzana. At the end of the off-ramp proceed south (towards the ocean). Continue up Reseda; pass the Caballero trail, up through/past the opening in the fence up to the paid parking area. Park just before the "white line" as the paid parking starts just beyond that white line. At the end of the ride, when leaving the parking area, be sure to stop at the photo enforced stop sign.

SO SORRY I couldn't make this ride !! I had car trouble. My car got weaker and wouldn't go any further RIGHT ON on Reseda Blvd as I was going up the hill south of Ventura. I had to put on the emergency light and AAA towing came.
Martini saw me and stayed behind with me to make sure everything went fine with the car. I'll try to make it to the next ride. Hope you guys had fun !!
