Let's take a Social Hike

The Butler memorial Sanctuary is located on the Bedford / Mt Kisco boarder right off Interstate 684 ex 4 Route 172

We'll meet in the parking lot at 1:15

We wait 15 minutes for late comers and start the hike at

at 1:30

Our first stop will be to visit the Hawk Watch stands to get a great view of the surrounding area!

***NOTE - If you arrive a bit late you can meet us at the Hawk Watch stands.

When you enter Butler make a sharp left and follow the ORANGE TRAIL along the fence for about 5 min. When you get there you'll know it's us because we'll be the ones drinking the cosmopolitans.   *_*

This will be a moderate hike. We are a social group so we will be going at a very modest pace.

This hike should take about 2-3 hrs total

Attire: Hiking Boots or sturdy walking shoes is always recommended. Depending on the weather, bring gloves to protect your hands and wear layers of comfortable clothing.

Food: To be safe, bring enough food for 4 or 5 days in case we get lost. LOL, Just kidding.

I should be able to get us out of there in ONLY a couple of days. *_*

Bring lunch or Light snacks and water.

Bug spray and a walking stick are always good to have.

Butler has Audio Tours available also.

A lovely park and a very nice group of people. And Bob even managed to wrangle a few minutes of sun for us, and to make sure that we got out without getting our feet wet (much less resorting to cannibalism). Bob, thank you for all the upfront work with scouting and organizing. I think people don't always realize the effort that group leaders put out to make these trips possible for the rest of us.

Got to the place at 1;20. No one was there so I walked on my own. as I was about to leave at 1;40, another guy drove in, and that was it! no one elas showed up. Judging by the number of cars in the lot, it did not seems that there was anybody else over there beside the one who worked on the site.
Could be that you gave us a worng address? I don't think so because the man in charge of the place new about you and the walk... but you did not show up on time. Maybe next time...

The man at Westmoreland new about me because a couple of days ago I found out that there was another Meetup group hiking at Butler today also. And their start time was 11:00. And if they had a large number of people there would not have been enough parking spots for us. So when I went there Saturday to do a pre-hike & stopped in at Westmoreland & told him of the situation and was ready to switch the hike to Westmoreland if needed. And while I was there I did a pre-hike at Westmoreland and then a pre-hike at Butler not knowing which one we were going to hike.

I was pretty tired after both hikes, but I wanted to make sure that everything went well. But there are some things that I have absolutely no control over.....

Bob, it might make sense for next time to let folks know where not to go. Having 2 parks so close together can be confusing....

Hey everyone, I took a pre-hike on Saturday and I just want to give everybody a heads up that some of the trails are a bit muddy. Otherwise I'm looking forward to seeing you. Take care, Bob
