On March 21st the IT Job Hunters discussed keywords, what to use, not use, or where they may be useful. This discussion is a place where we can post what we have learned. Others can feel free to contribute.

This is the list we have on the board.

1) Grab from the job description.

2) Personal keywords: experienced, trained (as in you were trained in something), achieved, managed, improved (as in improved a process), expert, specialist, mentor, trainer, enthusiast, collaborated, citizen (for jobs that say must be US citizen), foreign language, public speaking, self-starter, "hit the ground running" (best if it was in the job description, or use in cover letter)

3) IT words: open source, technical architect, solutions analyst, any of your technical skills, technical support, troubleshooting,

4) Watch for places where nouns would be more appropriate than verbs, such as managed versus manager.

5) No pronouns, such as "I"
