Making the Most of Third-party Marks & Certifications We all know the value of third-party validations—they enhance your brand’s credibility, connect you to like-minded individuals, and differentiate your product or service in the marketplace. The topic for discussion: are we showcasing these stamps of sustainability to the best of our ability? It’s time to get together and talk best practice when it comes to leveraging these marks across different platforms. How are our peers talking about them? What are our successes and challenges? Join us for a workshop on four third-party marks: Bullfrog Power, REAP, Fairtrade, and B Corp. We’ll spend the first hour hearing from these four organizations, who will share tips and tricks for making the most out of their seals. Then, in groups, we’ll dive into a few examples, sharing our experiences along the way. We’ll finish off by collectively reflecting over a cold one. This event is curated for any organization with one, a couple, or all of these marks. We ask that all attendees come prepared with one example of how they’re showcasing one of the four marks mentioned. Meet fellow, like-minded business leaders who care about our community and are committed to driving business to make the future better! Join us for REAP's next Sustainability for Breakfast: Five Tenets of Conscious Brands on February 27 - facilitated by Rob E. Sinclair, founder of Conscious Brands™. Get ready to have big-picture conversations with other big-picture thinkers - to learn and share what you are seeing, thinking and doing to bring forward an industry of conscious brands. The session is designed to be a dialogue around what a conscious brand is (now) and could look like (future) leading to a conscious industry (scaling impact). In small groups, we will discuss emerging trends in conscious business, what the implications are to your company and, ultimately, co-create an industry of conscious companies. On top of your personal notes, we will collect and share the key insights from the session with you. You will leave knowing many other leaders beyond their name and role on a business card. Lastly, you will leave with a more clear sense of how to be a more conscious business leader. This is an invitation to bring your whole self to this session and together we will co-create an industry of conscious brands. Rob Sinclair is the founder of Conscious Brands, and strongly believes in T. Harv Eker’s maxim that “how you do anything is how you do everything.” He helps businesses grow and thrive by showing them the inherent value of taking their economic, human and natural capital into account, and working with all of those resources. • Sustainability for Breakfast: Forging Business Culture

    Hotel Arts

    CA$30.00

Sustainability for Breakfast presents "Forging Business Culture" Connectivity, job automation and the intensifying search for more meaningful consumerism are driving the emergence of what Trendwatching calls “glass box brands”. Any of you who are on social media will understand what this means – there is no longer a dividing line between internal and external communications when it comes to your brand. What your employees experience, your customer also experiences, immediately, through social media, so it’s more important than ever to actively create your culture. Employee Engagement has fast become the most pivotal business issue of our time. With over 3/4 of employees operating at various levels of disengagement nationally, there will be two types of leaders in the coming decade; those who learn how to engage their employees and those whose businesses will simply fail. Shane Wallace, CEO of Culturesmith Inc., will share how to intentionally forge a business culture that will attract and keep customers and employees who share your values, so that you can grow your business. About Shane Wallace: Shane works with Entrepreneurs and C-suite Executives of rapidly scaling enterprises to craft the type bulletproof Corporate Cultures needed to inspire their people to bring forth more discretionary effort daily. As a Speaker he is driven to educate Leaders as to the size and scope of the Engagement Epidemic, and inspire them to take action by providing real, tangible strategies that they can implement with minimal cost and effort. As a Thought Leader, his aim is to add shape to the concepts of Culture and Engagement, to pull them from the ether and provide a set of tools you can use to create meaningful, rewarding and sustainable businesses. Agenda: • Arrival, breakfast & networking 8:00-8:30 am • Presentation and interactive discussion with Shane Wallace 8:30-9:45 am • Wrap up 9:45-10:00 am Food: Breakfast will include gluten-free and vegan options, coffee, and tea. • Sustainability for Breakfast: Future of Sustainable Business in Alberta

Sustainability for Breakfast presents "Future of Sustainable Business in Alberta" Join us for an inspiring yet pragmatic conversation about the business opportunities and challenges for sustainable business leaders in Alberta. Given the recent changes in policy at all levels - including the introduction of carbon taxes, municipal bylaws regarding waste diversion, and increases to the minimum wage - we're exploring how leading businesses can continue to stay in front as the rest of the world catches up. What were points of difference for progressive businesses five years ago are quickly becoming table stakes. Where does this lead us? How can our elected officials provide support to ensure continued progress? We'll begin with brief presentations from these guest speakers, followed by a moderated discussion: Kevin Davies is the founder and CEO of Hop Compost. Prior to launching Hop, Kevin saved 700,000 lbs of waste from Calgary landfills and was named one of North America's Top 45 Emerging Innovators. Hop's revolutionary closed loop process has transformed close to 8.4 million lbs of food scraps into Hop Organic Craft Compost to benefit local growers. First farm to table, now table to farm, each generation of food supports the next. Shannon Phillips is Minister of Environment and Parks for the Government of Alberta and the Minister responsible for the Climate Change Office. This month Sustainability for Breakfast presents "Tools for increasing productivity and personal sustainability" Are you feeling bombarded with responsibilities, deadlines, projects, new ideas, and goals? Is there always something to get done? another email to respond to? another meeting to make? How do you manage to get it all done? or do you? Modern + Mindful and Think Productive will provide you with some effective ways to manage your time and your responsibilities so that you can feel in control and calm, despite the 101 things you have to do in a day. Think Productive (http://thinkproductive.ca) will lead a mini-workshop to help you to become a "productivity ninja". You will receive tips, tools, and techniques to help manage the daily information overload that might leave you feeling overwhelmed and overworked. Modern + Mindful (http://www.modernandmindful.com)will then lead you through a guided meditation. "Meditation is a key tool in increasing productivity, creativity, and focus in the workplace. The ability to slow your mind once a day, even if just for 5 minutes, can help with reducing stress levels, allowing your brain to perform at a higher capacity. The right side of the brain, tasked with coming up with new ideas and finding the focus to execute them, will work more efficiently with regular meditation. The ability to focus the mind on simply breathing during a meditation will transfer the same skill over training your brain to stay focused on the task at hand.
