Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert, this Interest Group will enable you to readily learn to identify both local and migrant species, and allow you to become familiar with the valuable bird habitats near you.
All sessions will take place outdoors within Calgary. Visits will be made to different natural areas each week, e.g., Fish Creek Provincial Park, Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, Weaselhead Natural Area. As a result, in addition to seeing interesting birds (and possibly other wildlife), you will also get to see their habitat and get to know many of Calgary’s most interesting natural areas.
Facilitated by Gus Yaki, a lifelong naturalist who operated his own Natural History Tour Company for 30 years. He conducted groups to all seven continents and personally has visited 76 different political entities, showing the flora, fauna and physiography of each area. Since retiring, he has been organizing outings for the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society and the Calgary Field Naturalists Society.
Registration limited to 15. All participants must sign a waiver.
