Third time is a charm... we hope, we have had to cancel this trip twice but I would like to run it this weekend before the snow starts to deteriorate with the March sun. This is the trip that we did on New Years day but this time we will do the complete Sawmill Loop and include a trip up a trail less travelled to this beautiful unnamed lake. The trip will be 11km and 300m of elevation. Adult trip, no pets please.
You will need a lunch and something like energy bars or trail mix for snacks. A small thermos with a hot drink for lunch is nice but optional. Large heavy coats will be too hot for climbing hills and overheating causes energy loss. I suggest you dress in layers and NO COTTON. Make sure you have room in your pack to store your coat if you need to take it off for awhile because you are overheating and remember to bring an extra pair of warm dry mitts to put on after lunch. We will snowshoe at a leisurely pace with little stops to catch our breath so everyone enjoys the day and so we can admire the view and take pictures.
ALL WINTER TRIPS ARE DEPENDENT ON WEATHER CONDITIONS SO THE MORNING OF THE TRIP PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE TO MAKE SURE THE TRIP ISN'T CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS. We will meet at Shouldice Arena Parking lot at the corner by 16th Ave, there will be a carpooling fee of $15 per person paid to your driver, please have correct change. For those who don't mind taking their car and some passengers please indicate as a comment when you RSVP. This will be a full day trip with us arriving back at Shouldice late afternoon. We will leave within 5 minutes of the posted meeting time, please come 10 minutes early. If you have a problem and need to let me know you are on your way my phone is 403-826-1355, if texting please put your name in the text.
