Description:

Rating: D6 Moderate Scramble

Round trip Time: 9-11 hours est. (Only an estimate. Don’t make plans that depend on it. It’s the mountains.)

Max height:  3544M
Height gain: 1,690m (Calgary Tower is 191m high)

Distance: 16 km

This is a long, long day. After getting to Sentinel Pass the trip is just starting. We must cross 3 rock bands before swinging over to the final summit ridge.

Level:
This is a difficult hike with a moderate scramble added on. Long day in the mountains, be prepared. An  above average level of fitness is required our pace is moderate. Please be realistic about your abilities. Please gauge your abilities appropriately. Organizers are not here to babysit you. I don’t want to “Waste My Time in the Canadian Rockies.”

Bushwhacking and Off-trail: With many of my trips there is a good likelihood of bushwhacking and off-trail and that naturally means some route-finding. I tend to get off the beaten track and try to avoid “tourist” routes. If you want the tourist route, you’re on the wrong trip. You are warned. Don’t be surprised.

Dogs: Not this time.

You will have to make your way to Lake Louise very e

Hi Darcy, I sincerely apologies for the late notice but I won't be coming today :( I pulled a muscle running earlier this week. I thought it was better but when I was out getting groceries last night I realized it wasn't and there is no way I could spend a day walking on it. I really wanted to come today and even slept on it before deciding I shouldn't go. It was a tough call but it's best for me and the group if I don't come. Again really sorry for backing out last minute. I hope you guys have an amazing day!

Hello, anyone wants to carpool from Shoudice on Saturday morning leaving around 4.45am? I have park pass and would like to share gas. thanks!

    August 19, 2014

    • Carlo

The think the one by the hockey area is the one people normally use for the meet up spot. We can all meet up there around 4:45 and carpool from there.

    • Yvonne

This works for me! Please save me a seat! Thx

I can't get a bed at the Hostel. I'm thinking of just meeting at Sholdice for 4:45 am. Having an issue with my computer I have to do this with my phone.

    August 19, 2014

  • Darcy K.

The Hostel is full. I will have to figure something else out.

    August 13, 2014

  • Darcy K.

I have a couple extra sets of microspikes. If I hear any current reports. I suspect we won't need them.

    August 13, 2014

  • Darcy K.

I suspect the meetup in Calgary would have to be about 4:45 am, leaving by 5am.

    August 12, 2014

    • Carlo

The Lake Louise hostel is starting to sound like the better option....

      August 12, 2014

  • Kurtis

I'm available to drive (max 4), should I end up on the trip. My preference is also to stay at Lake Louise too, so maybe a rendezvous in Calgary could be arranged if others are interested.

    August 11, 2014

  • Carlo

I can drive :) 7 am at the trail head so if we are going to carpool is that a 5 am meet up?

    August 11, 2014

    • Yvonne

Yes I would like to carpool from calgary, will contribute gas money! Hope we will both get in! :)
