Raspberry Pi, Windows IoT Core and Azure (Part 1 of 2)
• What we'll do We will build a simulated device (ie an app that runs on your computer) with a temperature sensor and a LED and assemble and configure Azure components to create a full circle IoT project. The device will connect to Azure and upload temperature data to Azure, which will then check the data and send a command back to the simulated device to turn on or off the LED depending on temperature. In Part 1 we will cover assembling and configuring the Azure Components (IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Event Hub, Cloud Services). NOTE in Part 1 we will not be using a Raspberry Pi, but rather a simulated device so this class is open to anyone wanting to learn how to use Azure for IoT. Please download and compile the Visual Studio Solution for this lab previous to attending the class to ensure your development environment is up to snuff for this. The project can be downloaded here:!Ai0eAo-dCOPCvtxtB-o2VRlRL_YSbg • What to bring Laptop running Windows 10, Visual Studio 2017 with UWP, Internet Connection (you can use Library's if you have a current Library Membership), Azure Account ( you might be able to sign up for a free trial here ) , PowerBI account ( you might be able to sign up for a free trial here ).
