ORMs vs Micro-ORMS

  • Innovate Calgary

3553-31st St. NW., Calgary, AB (map)

    51.084316 -114.129509

  • Does your application need full power of Entity Framework or (shudder) nHibernate?

Let's take a look at micro ORMs like Dapper.NET, PetaPoco, etc.

    -What is a micro ORM?

-Where does it fit in to your app?

-How can they help simplify things?

-When should you keep using a full ORM?

    -Why not build my own?

Presented by David Paquette, Canada's answer to Julie Lerman.

Is there anything not listed in the description that people would want to hear about in this session?

Hi David, In addition to 'roll your own'. I would be interested in options for customizing EF6 to increase it's performance. For example to use stored procedures to easily return objects into a context, tracked or not. Also any other techniques for improving EF6 performance beyond what is available on the net. Many Thanks - Steve

Sorry to be forced to miss this interesting session... Family reasons need me in Italy. I hope that there will be another occasion to follow up on this subject.

I'd also add "why not to roll your own".
Looking at alternatives like Dapper.NET, PetaPoco, etc
