What we're about

Work all week and need a little adventure on the weekend with a lot of laughs? Or want to participate in a support group for mental health without any judgement? Then this group has you covered. This group is for all the adventurous types who love to keep active, entertained, and/or feeling supported all while having fun or kept in good company on the weekends (and now weekdays) and also saving lives by fundraising for local charitable organizations within the community or helping out at the same time whether its seniors, animals, children, or people in need in general. We could not do this without our Calgary Weekend Warriors! So give yourselves a pat on the back!

Instead of fundraising for only one or two charitable organizations we are now reaching out to any organization in need so that way every organization gets a chance. Our new aim is to start helping the community one event at a time.

Some of the things we do

🏞️Hiking (this has been put on a little bit of a hold but we will get back there eventually, your patience is much appreciated!) ♥ Walks 🚶‍♀️Camping 🏕️ (all year round) Good eats 🥘 Dog Adventures 🐶 Pub Nights 🍻 Mental health support🤝 Socializing 😀 Strategy games/board games 🃏 Road trips 🚙 Swimming 🏊‍♂️ Adventures 🚵‍♂️ and the list goes on and on!

All hikes announced by Calgary Weekend Warriors are more of hikes to enjoy the scenery and good company, rather then go for total endurance or meet time quotas etc. It is also for health but the whole group will hike as fast as the slowest person. If the group decides at any time to not go as far as what was planned then there is the option of deciding as a group to turn around sooner if need be so its fair.

This group is very laid back and all about socializing and/or having fun while doing it! You are required to bring your smiles and humor to our meetups. -and of course, your dog if you have one.

Sometimes this world can be a bit difficult so that's why every ones participation counts and makes a total difference in someone's life whether it's an animal or human we all have the ability to help one another out and change the world one life at a time.

We now have a two strikes rule policy: If you RSVP and don't show on two separate occasions instead of change your attendance to "can't go" a day in advance, then you will be banned after two strikes. If it is an event where tickets have been purchased in advance by the organizer and you do a no show then it is an immediate ban. If it is an event where you pay in advance via PayPal and you can't go, there will not be a refund. Some venues being hosted may require a certain amount of head count/money to have the venue and by you not showing falls onto the laps of the organizers and wrecks it for the members attending which is why we now implement rules. Should the event not happen for whatever reason, you will be reimbursed in full immediately. Thank you for your understanding❤️

Blood Donation Group - Give The Gift of Life❤️ Canadian Blood Services

🌋Warriors🌋 Calgary Weekend Warriors is going to start running blood donation groups for those of you who wanted to donate blood with the comfort of others. This event is also during National Blood Donor week, because we each have a blood type to give! Cancer patients, transplant recipients, accident victims, for these people and so many more, a timely transfusion of blood can be the lifesaving difference. Half of all Canadians will either need blood or know someone who needs it. The need is constant. Come to this event to donate blood. It’s something you can do today to ensure someone else is waking up for a healthy tomorrow Blood is such an important part of our bodies and every two seconds of every single day, someone needs blood. Since blood cannot be manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished by generous blood donors like yourselves. If we all came together to donate our blood as often as once every three months just think of all the lives we could save. Our fellow Canadians need us and that's why we are reaching out to ask for you to come help save some lives. There are also wonderful health benefits to donating your own blood! : Fresh blood regeneration and could possibly help lower harmful iron count which has plenty of benefits in itself! We have made it on a Thursday starting at 5:30pm so people can donate after they're done work. There are 10 spots saved for us for 5:30 and There are 10 spots saved for us for 6:00. To sign up just click you're going to this event and we can sign your name in the day of the event just let us know in the comments which out of those two times you want to come. If we exceed the number of spots that would be great the more blood the better. If you have any questions send any of the admins of this event a message. After you donate they have a bunch of types of cookies, salty snacks, I know they do vegetable soup and crackers (not sure if at this time though) they have an assortment of juices, pop, water and coffee as well and a lovely little seating area to enjoy your refreshments before you leave. Location: Main Donor Centre: Eau Claire Market 200 Barclay Parade S.W. 2nd Floor FREE Donor Parking Underground (it's very easy to find parking it's just directly underground of the eau Claire market/mall building and there is tons of parking. 1500 sized trucks fit in here as well. If you don't get a designated canadian blood services spot when you go underground that's okay use any other stall in there (everyone just remember to sign in your vehicle at the front desk of blood services upon arrival) Fee: a donation of your blood❤️ Blood donation tips: 1. Make sure you have had a substantial meal 2. Be well hydrated – start drinking one - two litres of water in the days before you donate and at least 500 ml (and a salty snack) just before your donation 3. Get some rest – make sure you have had a good night’s sleep prior to donating 4. Feel well the day you donate (no sore throat, cold, etc) 5. Bring your Blood Donor Card or GOVERNMENT ID (identification with full name and signature, or full name and photograph required) Am I Eligible to Donate? Canadian Blood Services is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our blood supply. The criteria is designed to ensure it is safe for you to donate, and to minimize risk to the recipients of your valuable donation. As an example, you may not be able to donate for a temporary period of time if you have recently travelled to a malaria risk area. Visit the links below for more information. • www.blood.ca/eligibility • www.blood.ca/countries-with-a-risk-of-malaria Question about your eligibility to donate? Call[masked] DONATE [masked]) and ask to speak with a Nurse. Our staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. IMPORTANT: The Canadian Blood Services have explained that it is very crucial that you show up at your designated time because they are specifically saving spots for this event and Canadians need blood so this event needs you to give at least 5 days notice if you're not going to make it. If you do not show up or give enough notice time to cancel then you will be put on the two strikes rule policy from the Calgary Weekend Warriors as someone else could have been filled in your place to donate blood. So Canadian Blood Services and the Calgary Weekend Warriors are counting on you. Thank you for your understanding❤️ Disclaimer: By being a member of Calgary Weekend Warriors and coming to our events, you acknowledge that everybody is in charge of their own individual responsibility. Calgary Weekend Warriors is not liable for lost, stolen or damaged items of its members so please remember to keep your belongings in a safe place.
