Another overnight trip in Carson-Iceberg wilderness, Stanislaus NF. I hiked to Bull Run Lake before from Stanislaus Meadows t/h. The lake is pretty, but the campsites are trampled: there is little else to go in the area. Now the season is over, chances are there will be few visitors other than day hikers. This time, will take the main access trail from Mosquito lake: it is ~2 hours (4.5 mi) hike, going up-down-up-down-up, with 400' to 600' elevation change on each leg. Heiser Lake is about half way on the trail; if feeling tired / short of time / out of mood, it's possible to drop there instead of going all the way to Bull Run.
Planning to take off from San Jose ~10am and hit the trail at 2pm. Anyone interested, RSVP before Friday night.
