What we’re about
The California Native Plant Society is a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals. Our goals are to increase understanding of California’s native flora and to preserve this rich natural heritage for future generations. The Yerba Buena Chapter encompasses San Francisco and northern San Mateo Counties and is named for the tiny fragrant mint Satureja douglasii found in this area.
Chapter Activities are as diverse as our membership and range from conservation and habitat restoration to native plant gardening, hiking and photography.

Urban Natives in the Bernal Cut
Leader: Sophie Constantinou
Come explore the hidden treasure trove of urban open spaces filled with natives and a super bloom this Spring. We will travel along the Bernal Cut. Skirting along Arlington Street to San Jose Ave we will see both the impact of transportation on the landscape and the local efforts to build a corridor of biodiversity. Habitat stops along the Natick Triangle sanctuary, the Arlington Path and its hidden seeps, the bridges of Richland and Highland Aves, two murals with San Francisco history and the Bernal Cut path. Support citizen stewardship and the native nurturing that is transforming the most unexpected corners of the city while testing your plant identification and local history knowledge.Meet up at the Glen Park BART station where there is ample bike and car parking on Bosworth and street parking is free on Sundays. Sign this waiver in advance.
