Because what are Arts Cinemas for if not to supply 97 minutes of the finest dark Czech animation of a Sunday afternoon? I saw his version of Alice in Wonderland some years ago and was most taken with it, and am glad the Picturehouse has a season of his films.
The web site http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Arts_Picturehouse_Cambridge/film/Faust_Jan_Svankmajer/ says:
"A fantastical re-telling of the Faust fable, a tour-de-force of black magic and black humour. A rich blend of life-size marionettes, clay-mation, and live action reveals Svankmajer's singular talents at their unsettling finest."
I have seat G8, the rest of that row was free when I booked. The film starts at 4pm but I will be in the bar earlier if people want a cup of tea, and later for post-film nattering.
