Yes, and we don't all want to be talking about higher level physics, either!

It was a fine turnout, with some twelve of us attending – though not all at the same time. Being in the cafe made it easier for us to move about and join other small discussion groups. However, I felt that this prevented general discussion groups in which more people could partake. Also, the noise from the music made hearing difficult. However, in considering a return to The Punter after Christmas, there are two things to bear in mind. 1/ The Cafe Nero meetings will continue, so that people can go to cafe or pub or both. 2/ Mary Levi and I have been thinking that the pub discussions should be split into two groups – each with its own topic – so that everyone gets a chance to speak, and the group is not dominated by one speaker. Which latter is probably the single most irritating and frustrating aspect our group, and the one most responsible for driving people away. So, with Cafe Nero and The Punter we have the best of both worlds: good coffee at the café and good food at the pub.

We are actually starting at 10:30 – for those who like an early start – but semi–officially at 11:00. But this is a nominal start time, and all are welcome at any time after 11:00. We do not know how busy the café will get after midday, so we'll have to see how things go. Peter
