Cambridge Mobile App Meetup #2

Following a successful first meeting, the next is not too far away! Cambridge Mobile App Group is a new meetup in Cambridge for discussion of all things regarding mobile apps. I'll leave the venue TBC for the moment - the Devonshire Arms was great for the number we had last night but we are looking out for slightly larger venues. Some areas for discussion: - Current projects. - Events upcoming of interest. - Useful websites. - Potential activities for the group outside a monthly pub visit e.g. app showcases, open source projects, training sessions. You can also follow us on Twitter:

I mentioned to some of you Enterprise Tuesday lectures. Here is the link those events: http://www.cfel.jbs.cam.ac.uk/programmes/enterprisetuesday/index.html "Enterprise Tuesday is a series of free evening lectures and networking sessions managed and delivered by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning." It's worth attending.

A good meeting last night and great to see some new faces! Despite the double booking I think the venue worked out fine. I gathered some thoughts on what presentations people may want to see in future meetings, with people well placed to talk about iPhone, Android, Qt (Nokia), Flex and in-app advertising. From next meeting we'll start introducing presentation slots to begin the evening. More information on that later.

Some topical subjects for tonight's meetup perhaps:

    - The demand for this meetup to host presentations on various subjects and what they should be about.

    - The rise of companies offering app construction kits, and for developers - companies offering publishing and marketing services.

    - Angry Birds - what pricing says about Android Vs iPhone market. See also the Daring Fireball article I tweeted.

    - Early days of Windows Phone 7 development.

That headline got my attention for some reason ;) Despite finding out they weren't talking about my app I still downloaded it - some good photos and I may keep an eye on GPSmyCity.com.

Have you seen this http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Tonys-phone-app-puts-city-in-best-light-for-photo-shoot.htm - A student has created a walking tour of the best photography spots in Cambridge, which is now available to buy from iTunes.
