CHASE: Talk next week - Mon 9th May - Augmenting Reality with Popcode

CHASE is an association of small businesses in the Cambridge area working in, or associated with, high technology.

Talk - Augmenting Reality with Popcode

Connell Gauld is a director of a very new augmented reality business,
Extra Reality Ltd. His particular augmented reality application is
called Popcode and it was used to animate the cover of the programme
for Cambridge University's Science Festival 2011.

Augmented reality is a technology that displays a camera feed and
draws graphical elements on top in such a way that they appear to be
part of the scene being viewed. Recent computer vision research allows
content rich, real-time augmented reality on limited-resource devices
such mobile phones.

Connell Gauld and his business partner Simon Taylor, both recently
graduated from the Department of Engineering, have been
commercialising a platform for mobile phone vision-based augmented
reality as part of their new venture, Extra Reality Ltd.

In this talk, Connell will discuss the capabilities of modern
augmented reality software, and the challenges posed from both the
technical and business perspectives.

Date: Monday, 9th May

Time: 7.30 pm for 8.00 pm start

Venue: Mills & Reeve,
112 Hills Road Cambridge
