This will be our first meeting so come out and support us. I plan a short talk about how OSM works and a little on data theory. Then we will walk to an area of Cambridge that need updating and get to work. Join us.

Thanks Stephen for the suggestion. I am going to try it on my Nexus 4 :-). My OSM profile is http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/johnsidi. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the next meeting.

It was great to meet you all yesterday. Thought I would share few links.

John was asking about OSM based turn-by-turn navigation. On android there is an app called "OsmAnd" (GPLv3) which I've not tried, but seems to offer turn by turn navigation. I think you were using an iPad though, so that probably doesn't help.

I mentioned a company that designs, renders and hosts custom OSM styles. http://www.thunderforest.com/ I think it is run by the guy that created opencyclemap. Custom map styles is something that interests me, but maybe I should instead look at POI layers over a standard render.

We discussed SRTM, which has topography data for most of the world's land area at around 30 metre resolution and around 10 metre for the US. http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/ I'm not sure what the vertical resolution is. The SRTM dataset is what is used in opencyclemap.

    Thanks for starting this Morgan.

I agree Stephen, If you're all ok with meeting in a pub I suggest the Cambridge Brew House. It is a new place but has lots of space and is well lit. I am not sure if it has free wifi but I will check. For now I am going to set this as the location unless someone objects. Can't wait to meet you all.

I guess Robin's earlier question about a location is worth asking again. Is there a location for this event? If there are just 4 people coming then I suppose meeting in a pub or coffee shop is practical.

Any thoughts on a location for this?
