What we’re about
We are a regular Meetup group for software developers in Cambridge who care about and take pride in what they do, how they do it, and what effect their work has on society.
Take a moment to read the Software Craftsmanship Manifesto that underpins our commitment to quality in software engineering.
Software Crafters Cambridge operates the Community Code of Conduct to ensure a friendly and welcoming environment for all, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, lifestyle, technology choices, career choices, or indeed any form of "othering" not listed here.
We want to curate a program of events that meet the needs and interests of our members. Please take a moment to complete this short anonymous form to tell us your preferences. You can also contact Natalie Gray at natalie.gray@codurance.com to discuss any aspect of the community - topics, themes, speaking, hosting etc.
We hope to meet you soon!

Details
We are back kicking off 2024 with a TDD hands-on workshop. Join us for
an evening of coding, food and drinks! Come and code along, share ideas, discuss best practices and learn from Codurance Crafters and your peers in the Software Crafters Cambridge community. What’s the format?
After a short intro, we’ll get into groups/pairs or work solo, whatever people feel most comfortable with, and start building. You choose how you want to work and what language you want to code in. This session is about collaborating with others, becoming a better developer and building your network, in a fun, relaxed environment.
We'll be sharing ideas, discussing best practices and using this as an opportunity to learn from our fellow coders.
Details of the evening's TDD Kata exercises
In this session we'll explore some variants of the classic TDD kata of Conway's Game of life, but with some twists. We'll start out with Ping-Pong TDD, and introduce complications to stretch our programming in interesting directions. This will include forbidding the use of primitive types, pair programming without speaking, and not returning values from our function.Food and Drinks
Pizza and drinks will be provided upon arrival, with vegetarian and vegan options available. All you need to do is bring a machine if you’d like to code along.Want to bring a friend? Great! Just ask them to RSVP so we know they are coming.
We want to hear from YOU!
The community is for you so please complete this short anonymous form to tell us what you want to get out of the group in 2024 so we can curate events that meet your interests and preferences.
