CambridgeQS Show and Tell

For the second Show and Tell meeting we will return to Hot Numbers on Gwydir Street (see

Show and Tells will be about mood tracking, aggregation of run/fitness data from multiple providers, and sleep!

Plan so far:

From 6.30 to 7 there will be a chance to meet all the other people interested in quantified self. Hot Numbers will be selling their various drinks etc. as per usual (, both before and after the talks.

From 7 to 8pm there will be three short talks followed by discussions, Q&A, etc. (Please see speaker guidelines below):

A classic QS Show-and-Tell talk, where someone will tell us about a recent or "in-progress" self quantification project.

A techy Show-and-Tell, focused on technology for self quantification or perhaps the introduction of an early stage start-up product relevant for the members of the group.

• Our researchy Show-and-Tell will be given by Neal Lathia from University of Cambridge, talking about Emotion Sense, a mood app developed by his research team (Adriana Lukas, LondonQS organiser, has been testing the app as described in this Independent article).

Afterwards people are encouraged to hang around for drinks and chat, we have the venue until 9pm.

Guidelines for presenters and speakers at Cambridge QS meetups

Do let me know if you would like to give a short show-n-tell, techy, or researchy quantified self talk, between 5 and 10 minutes.

The main criteria for speaking is that the group can take away something which could be useful for or help get started their own self-tracking and self-hacking* efforts. Examples could be other Cambridge QS members being inspired to do a self-tracking project similar to yours. Or use a tool that you found particularly useful, or read a research paper describing some research you did which proved or disproved something QS related.

Please be aware that talks will be video and/or audio recorded for the benefit of group members who cannot attend the meetup. Let me know if this is an issue, and we can try and work around it

* self-tracking and (especially) self-hacking are terms developed by the founders of the LondonQS community.

Thanks again to everyone who joined and contributed last night :-) As you can see from the uploaded pictures, it would be really good if we could get someone on board who knows about photography, video recording, lighting, and such! If you know anyone who might be interested in doing this, have them send an email to [masked], or maybe reply with their contact details here.

Check out Emotions app for apple. Using a smartwatch, it monitors your physical and emotional response to the people around you, and optimizes your social life accordingly. Art meets science and satire!

Unquantifiably good. Enjoyed the presentations and there was good chat.

I hope you are starting to get excited about our second show and tell! Just a quick note that while it says from 7pm on the Hot Numbers website ( the plan is still to meet from 6.30 for a chat and a drink before the talks.
