Mastering Composition with Benjamin Weatherston

Since composition is the placement of objects or elements in your work we must explore the process of putting things where you want them in your viewfinder before we take the shot. Good composition is a part of every great image while bad composition can ruin the viewer's experience.

If you're looking for a follow-up to the Introduction to DSLR class, this is it. In this class, Ben is going to show examples of why composition is so important and how to control it rather than simply accept what you see through the viewfinder.

Topics will include:

- What is good composition?

- How good composition can make a boring image great

- Additive vs. subtractive composition

- Leading lines

- Rule of thirds

- Aspects, ratios, and relative size

- How to make decisions that change composition

Class held at CameraMall and costs $40. Pre-registration required.  To register for the class and purchase your ticket click on the following link:

Benjamin is a well-known, local commercial/editorial photographer who does most of his shooting in the downtown Ann Arbor and metro Detroit areas. When he's not shooting, Benjamin teaches at Washtenaw Community College!
