Looking for a way to volunteer, meet new people, and learn a new skill?
At Campus Kitchen volunteers work together to prepare meals for at risk youth, veterans, the unhoused, and elderly persons across the District. Right now we prepare and serve over 1,300 meals a month — but only with your help!
We ask that you please stay for the entire duration of the shift (i.e. 3hrs).
Dress Code: Close toed shoes and legs covered if possible.
Qualifications: Ability to stand for 3 hours at a time, lift boxes of food, and work with knives and stoves is essential. Responsible, flexible attitude and ability to take initiative also necessary. Skills in communicating with a diverse group of 10-15 volunteers and working cooperatively with Chef and staff required.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to develop their cooking and leadership skills, enjoy camaraderie with other volunteers and staff members, and know that they are having a positive impact on their community by fighting both food waste and hunger. They can track community service hours to meet school or other requirements. Volunteers can learn about nonprofit management and organizational development through weekly engagement with various aspects of kitchen managment.
