Cooking Shift

Qualifications: Ability to stand for 3 hours at a time, lift boxes of food, and work with knives and stoves is essential. Responsible, flexible attitude and ability to take initiative also necessary. Skills in communicating with a diverse group of 10-15 volunteers and working cooperatively with Chef and staff required. Time frame:3.5-4 hours during scheduled shift times, afternoons and evenings (currently Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).

Supervision: Volunteers will report to the Volunteer Coordinator, Summer interns, and other Camps Kitchen staff.

Benefits: Volunteers will have the opportunity to develop their cooking and leadership skills, enjoy camaraderie with other volunteers and staff members, and know that they are having a positive impact on their community by fighting both food waste and hunger. They can track community service hours to meet school or other requirements. Volunteers can learn about nonprofit management and organizational development through weekly engagement with various aspects of kitchen managment.
