We all know that walking regularly can be enough to reduce your risk of chronic diseases. Being active can help prevent diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, osteoporosis and other diseases. Remember that you don’t need to race walk! In fact, by walking regularly – at a moderate pace – (which I call a leisurely brisk pace) you can gain important health benefits. Occasionally we may schedule an activity other than 'walking', such as dancing, cross country skiing, pickle ball, kayaking, etc. Any activity that includes a physical component will be included.
You would enjoy our group if you are able to walk the Mirror Lake Large Loop (not including the Jubilee Loop) in half an hour or less. (Children that can keep up with the group or are in strollers are welcome too.) Bring along your 'friendly' furry friends. Our walks usually range from 45 minutes to 2 hours and are held in various locations in and around Camrose. You pick what is right for you. Note: this is a walking group - no bikes please.

**If the temperature should reach below -20 our walks will either be moved to one of the indoor tracks in Camrose or cancelled. It will depend on a number of things, including the windchill factor. Outdoor walks may be changed to indoor activities during extreme temperatures. It is important that you check out the web site before leaving for the event, to see the latest updates.**
Walk, talk, meet new friends, all while keeping our community beautiful. Added benefits: getting some exercise, getting your dose of Vitamin D (hopefully if the sun cooperates), perhaps losing those extra pounds, all while getting some fresh air.
If you are ok with bringing along a garbage bag to pick up any litter along the route you are welcome to join us. During a recent walk a passerby stopped and asked why I was picking up the litter, and I said 'Why Not?'
We moved to Camrose in February, 2014. I've been exploring the amazing walking trails here and for years have walked the trails in Miquelon Provincial Park. Thought this would be a perfect way to meet new people in this beautiful city. This would be a great group for those new to town.
If you procrastinate in getting yourself outside for a walk, you'll find you are more apt to follow-through if you make an 'appointment with yourself'. Put it on your calendar, and prepare for it. So give it a try. Come on your own, bring a friend, your spouse, your partner, everyone is welcome! All walks will be about an hour unless otherwise noted.
**If a few months go by and you haven't joined us for a walk we'll be in touch to update your status and remove you from the group if you are no longer interested.**
Be aware that the Organizers of this walking group may or may not have first aid training. Dogs are allowed on walks but this is entirely at the discretion of the walk leader. Dogs must be kept under close control at all times (not jump up on participants) and be on a leash if we are not in an 'off-leash' park.
