A hiker from the UK (Ross Kaniuk) will be doing the Berg Lake hike/camp in August, so I've decided to join him. Would anyone like to join us? :) We'll be camping in the Berg Lake Campground, so yes.. this is a hike-up, camp, do day-hikes for a couple of days, and then hike back down kind of trip.
We'll be starting the Berg Lake hike on Saturday, 25th August. This will be a 3-day thing, as it gives us more time to explore while there, and gives us more time for some good sunrises/sunsets for photography. :)
Rough itinerary: We drive out from Edmonton on Friday, 24th August in the early afternoon, reaching Jasper by evening. We stay at a hostel there for the night. We then meet up on the morning of Saturday, 25th August in Mount Robson Provincial Park with Ross. We do the hike up to the lake. We get to the Berg Lake campsite by late afternoon or early evening. We then are there until Tuesday, 28th August, on the morning of which we pack up and start the descent back down, getting to the carpark at Mt Robson Provincial Park by late afternoon.
We then drive back into Edmonton (through Jasper) and get there by early evening.
I'm hoping we can get some people from the CRPH Meetup group to join this event so we can make it into a full six-person trip. I think we can just take three, two-person tents up to the lake. We can then each share carrying the tents up and down together.
This will be an intermediate-advanced level hike. For more details on the hike, check out the trails page here: http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Mt-Robson-Prov-Park-Berg-Lake-near-Valemount-BC-201
More details to come.
