    The ‘Foundations’ Combat Course is an introduction to SCA armoured combat - teaching foundation skills for new fighters or a recap of foundational skills for experienced fighters.   • Weekly Training and Craft Sessions - Armoured Combat, Rapier & Medieval Projects
    • What we'll do On a weekly basis, you can find us training, making and learning about pre-17th century life at the Les Explorateurs Scout Hall, corner of Ebden and Hassall Streets, Ainslie from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. This is a great time to come down and see what we’re all about in an informal setting rather than one of our formal events where everyone is in costume and character. Formal training times are: Fencing Training occurs from[masked] Armoured Combat training from 2.30- 5.30 The hall is reserved for arts and crafts (or sciences!) from 2-5pm. However you'll find members training, working on projects, catching up between 1.30 and 5.30pm. See you there! • What to bring Bring yourself and your interests! These are informal training sessions and project spaces so you won't find us dressed up unless we need to for training purposes.     Come and learn fencing! An introduction to period fencing technique, SCA fencing rules and practice over 10 weeks. Lessons start 1:30 Sunday's, please bring gloves and sunglasses/goggles. Hall fees $2. Additionally, $5 society insurance costs for non-members

  • Medieval Archery Training with the SCA
    • What we'll do From Agincourt to William Tell and Robin Hood, Archery is a fundamental part of the medieval world and one the whole family can enjoy with youth archery alive and well in the Canberra region Archery Practice is Sundays from 10am to noon at the Tuggeranong Archery Club (TAC). Cost $10 to non-members of the TAC combat archery, normal range fees to members. Historical costume is only worn on the 1st Sunday of the month, the rest of the time, you'll find us in ordinary clothes so it's a great opportunity to meet up with like minded people in a casual setting. Standard Schedule: 1st Sunday – Town Archer – (an attempt at medieval costume required). IKAC, or other shoot as advised. (February to November). 2nd and 4th Sunday – General practice. 3rd Sunday – Field Archery. 5th Sunday – Novelty or Practice All shoots and competitions are voluntary :) For more information, contact Ian Crawford at [masked] • What to bring Water bottle, sunscreen, good shoes, bow and arrows if you have them, if not, we have loaner equipment. • Important to know You will be asked to sign in to the meetup for insurance purposes.

    • What we'll do Join us for our weekly medieval and renaissance dance practice. Partners are not required and all are welcome! (No costume required for on Friday's for practice sessions) Dance is very active in Politarchopolis (the Canberra Region Medieval Group) with a weekly dance practice and the annual St Vitas Music & Dance Collegium. Dance in the SCA takes many different forms. Primarily we teach 15th, 16th and 17th century dances that we can document to those periods. Fun, good exercise and a true way of experiencing one of the key medieval past times! Contact Joanna Keenan on[masked] for more information. • What to bring Shoes you can dance in! Comfortable clothes • Important to know Small charge for share of hall hire, first time attendees free. An additional insurance cost of $5 for insurance applies for non SCA members.
