Take a Free Chairlift Up Mt. Norquay for Views [Social]
Join Linda H on a free summer ride up the Mt. Norquay chairlift to enjoy the view. The 10-minute chairlift takes you up the side of the mountain to a viewing platform and the Cliffhouse Bistro. At the top, we can: - enjoy lunch or share appetizers at the Cliffhouse Bistro - bring your own picnic - watch the climbers on the Via Ferrata - take photos - enjoy the view The chairlift ride normally costs $20, but is FREE for Bow Valley residents with proof of address. This is a social activity appropriate for all levels of fitness. We will plan to hang out and enjoy the views for about 2 hours. Be prepared for whatever weather in happening on the chairlift ride up - hopefully glorious sun. You can find out more about the chairlift here: We will meet and carpool from the Save-on-Foods recycling bins at 11:15am. I do not have a car in Canmore, so if you are able to drive, please let me know in a comment below. If no-one is able to drive, we will arrange transit via the ROAM bus, likely leaving a little earlier. If you are coming from Banff, we will meet you outside the North American lodge at 12pm. Don't forget your Bow Valley ID! See you for a gentle social expedition to the top of the mountains.. - Linda H (event organizer)

    What we're about

CHAOS is an informal, Canmore-based group of energetic, fun, non-competitive, outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy self powered and self-organized activities including hiking, biking, skiing, mountaineering, canoeing, and just being outside.

A strong community requires shared effort and organization.

By joining CHAOS, you are expected to organize at least one outdoor-related activity for other CHAOS members sometime in the next 12 months.

This could be a hike, a mountain bike ride, a brisk walk along the Bow, a picnic at Quarry Lake, a backyard fire pit, a night fondue on top of Tunnel Mountain, a coffee party after a WildSmart lecture, or any of a hundred other outdoor possibilities. If any of this sounds overwhelming - senior CHAOS members will provide advice, ideas, support, or even co-organization for your activity to make it fun, safe and successful.

By requiring participation for membership, CHAOS shares the organizational effort, keeps the group smaller and more active, and works to build a true outdoor community that provides responsibility, safety and respect for all members.

If you are from outside the Canmore-Banff area, or feel that you are unable to contribute an organized outdoor activity in the next year, there are many other fine outdoor meetups that would probably be a better fit.

CHAOS is an informal group of friends (some of whom have not met each other yet!), and is absolutely not a guide service. CHAOS trips are not supervised, and members should only go on trips they feel are appropriate for their ability and experience level.
