I'd like to share the following information from Capital District Against Fracking for any of our members who would like to participate in and spread the word about Monday's 8 am hearing or the noon time rally against fracking with peace activist and guest speaker Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. E-mail any questions to [masked]. This FYI event has no formal host and is posted so those interested in banning fracking can participate in the cause based on the following information.
Governor Cuomo is on the brink of opening New York to fracking, even though the overwhelming majority (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yrfjzpswl0PbGiYMDFVgr1HpnGdVUk-u_47Hy5vE8-E/edit) of people in our state oppose it. This means we need to escalate pressure on the governor over the next week. This is the last day of our call-in week, so make time to get in a call to the governor's office!
Call Governor Cuomo now, and tell him to ban fracking:[masked] This coming Monday, DEC Commissioner Joe Martens will be testifying at the state legislature's joint budget hearing on environment and we'll be there to show just how widespread and committed our movement is.
Join us at 8am in the LOB (Legislative Office Building) Hamilton Hearing Room B
We need to be there early to secure the front row of the hearing room, because we'll be using it to communicate the message of the day on shirts worn by each person sitting in front.
Then, join us for a major rally at noon on the Million Dollar Staircase in the Capitol immediately following Martens' testimony with Mark Ruffalo and Mahatma Gandhi's grandson, Arun Gandhi, who runs a peace center in Rochester that has recently signed onto the coalition we're part of -- New Yorkers Against Fracking -- will be speaking at the rally, so it's sure to be a meaningful event. See you there, Daniel
Join the thousands calling the governor this week:[masked]
